The Challenge
A global platform. Taken offline without warning.
SEGA is one of the world’s largest and most recognised arcade game manufacturers, with a global sales operation spanning multiple regions and territories. Their e-commerce and quoting platform was central to how their international sales network operated — managing deals, assigning representatives, and processing orders across the globe.
Without warning, their existing developer took their hosting offline. With no handover, no source code, and no documentation to work from, SEGA’s sales platform was suddenly unavailable. For a business operating at global scale, every day of downtime had consequences.
The challenge wasn’t just to get the site back up. It was to do so quickly, professionally, and without losing the functionality that a worldwide sales team depended on — while working from almost nothing.
The Solution
A rebuild from scratch — and an improvement on what existed before.
Digital Trading stepped in to manage the recovery from the ground up.
Working from fragmented information and with no access to the original source code, the platform was reconstructed and restored within eight weeks — a timeline that reflects both the urgency of the situation and the technical capability brought to the rebuild.
Rather than simply restoring what existed, the rebuild was used as an opportunity to improve. The platform was re-engineered to support direct sales alongside the existing quote management functionality, giving the sales network greater commercial flexibility. Regular data imports were integrated to keep product and pricing information current without manual intervention.
Location-based logic was built into the platform, ensuring that functionality, visibility, and contact details adapt dynamically depending on where in the world a user is accessing the system — with administrators able to manage and restrict deal visibility by region. The right sales representative is automatically assigned to each deal based on location, status, and deal stage.
The Result
A crisis turned into an opportunity to deliver something better.
A platform that went dark without warning was restored, improved, and back in the hands of SEGA’s global sales team within eight weeks — built from scratch, without source code, and with expanded capability.
The rebuilt platform now supports SEGA’s full international sales operation, with smarter deal routing, direct sales capability, and dynamic regional functionality that the original system lacked. The sales network has a more user-centric experience for generating quotes and completing sales, while administrators have greater visibility and control across global territories.
